Offsite and modular construction is a macro trend underway in the construction world—and this trend is here to stay. As more and more people move from the construction job site to the factory, new and innovative software to manage that process becomes essential. One of the leading software in the industry that solves the delivery, quality, traceability, and communication challenges of modular, offsite, and project-based manufacturing is Offsight

Offsight’s clients rave about Offsight’s easy and effective tracking and how the software closes the communication gap between project stakeholders and third parties. In addition, it streamlines the project management process so modular and offsite manufacturers can maintain the quality, consistency, and timeliness their clients expect.

Project Management Solutions with Offsite’s Founder

For this post, we’ll share our favorite highlights from a recent interview we heard with Vikas Murali, Offsight’s CEO and Co-Founder. You’ll learn how his company provides a solution to manage critical projects from raw materials through delivery with ease. He’ll also share why offsite manufacturers need to incorporate technology early and often to stay ahead of competitors in the industry’s competitive landscape.

Q: Vikas, can you tell us a little bit about Offsight? What solution does your company provide?

Offsite manufacturers need software to manage their processes. They need new tools to manage production, operations, assembly quality, and collaboration between project stakeholders. That’s where we step in. We offer that software to the factory, allowing other stakeholders and key parties to interact with the tool, too. That way, they can efficiently manage projects to save time, money, and resources. The Offsight software can handle variability between projects, products, and workflows.

Q: You’ve taken a unique approach to project management. Can you tell us a little bit more about what that is?

We provide a level of production tracking and visibility that many owners and third parties demand. We also offer all the elements needed to maintain quality at the factory level by resolving non-performance issues, installation errors, etc., before the product ships. This preemptive approach to resolving problems before they become client-facing problems is essential for success.

Our software helps all parties keep track of those issues, track their progress, and ensure everything meets brand standards before shipment.

Owners, third parties, third-party inspectors, and sometimes even the state requires a lot of visibility in offsite projects, which our software provides. This is for many reasons, one being the risk owners take when financing these projects. Typically, with offsite construction, they’re putting capital on the line up-front to begin the production of units, unlike traditional construction projects where more financing is released when the project hits certain milestones.

Process visibility helps ensure metrics are hit, units are assembled correctly, and everything is delivered on time.

Q: Who are your clients, and what challenges did they face before using Offsight?

Our customers span the gamut of companies that provide various offsite products—modular, volumetric modules, crates, and panels of varying materials. In addition, they leverage our software to manage the entire production process through elements of shipping.

A significant challenge for many factory customers is that a lot of software isn’t easy to use for everyone, especially those on the floor. Ultimately, this has been a barrier to eliminating the “paper traveler.” However, once Offsight is set up, operators, quality inspectors, and others simply use our mobile app to remove paper documentation altogether.

This shift to our software also opens the door to the additional functionality they need, like reporting, updates, tracking alerts, analytics, and more.
